Confessions of a Lane Six Swimmer, Part 3

No significant progress in the pool for the past six weeks as my training focus shifted to long distance running. I've completed a few 75 yards, but I still struggled with my poor techniques.
I needed lots of rest between my 50's freestyle. While everyone took 10 seconds to rest, I needed a full minute to recover. Overall, I'm happy with 1,000 yards a practice. I plan to improve on that starting in April.

Marathon Training, Week 9

Light week for training and working out.



Monday: chest & triceps
Tuesday: Fins swim practice
Wednesday: calibrating Nike Plus iPod nano sensor
Thursday: none
Friday: legs, abs
Saturday: 3-mile run, swim at 12th
Sunday: 3-mile run; biceps, abs

Has it been a week already? Although I didn't have any pain after my 13th marathon, I gave myself some down time last week to focus on other interests. No running. No swimming. No weight lifting.

Philadelphia Phillies

Baseball's opening day is a few weeks away, but I'm already tempted to jump on the Phillies bandwagon. The Phillies has reigning MVP Ryan Howard, rising star Chase Utley, a decent group of holdovers and a handful of expensive players acquired during the off-season. Take me out to the ballpark!
