Steamtown Marathon 10 days away

After running 600 miles in the last 4 months, I like my chances of setting a personal best in my next marathon. Certainly, training hasn't been easy. There were days that I struggled to get my ass off of my couch to lace up. There were runs that no matter how I tried, I couldn't get up to my target pace. There were also some amazing runs along the way.

I'm looking forward to see what I can do in Scranton!

Confessions of a Fins Swimmer

Philly Fins Postal Swim 2011

Running has been my No. 1 priority for the past 3 months. I still go to swim practices about twice a week during my off days from running. Fins practices are always fun and social; and can be easy if I swim last in my lane.

My pace has suffered a little bit. At my best earlier this year, I was able to swim 100 free at 1:35 easily. Now I have to hurry to come in under 1:40. Once it a while when I have to swim with faster swimmers, I still manage to sprint a 100 under 1:30, and that's now a cause to celebrate.

I don't even try to do IM sets anymore. Attempting a 25 fly last Thursday almost killed me. I'm ok with 25 back, but a 50 back would kill me as well. Even my breaststroke has gotten slower.
